"50's At The Hop" is smoothly produced and choreographed. In this show, the combined personality of the vivacious performers takes you to the Hop! Where it's your party and you can "Rock Around The Clock". The fresh, young cast flawlessly captures the essence of the playfulness in the 50's music. They're having fun as they brilliantly entertain with song after song, along with fast paced dancing that gives us the jitterbugs!

I am a big fan of Branson entertainment and this was my third trip to the wonderful vacation destination. It was my first and probably last visit to 50's at the hop. As much as I enjoyed the song choices and vocal talent of the entertainers, I have to say that the choreography lacked a little and the effort put into the dancing was half-hearted. Given that everyone has their bad days, I can overlook a minimal amount of low-energy, however, that does not change the fact that this is a lower level show compared to the other nine I saw on this particular vacation. Not a horrible show, just not worth the same price as a show like, for example, RED, HOT AND BLUE!

First the positive things: the singing was very good, energetic clear and true. The two guys were the best and several of the 4 girls were enjoyable. The dancing and choreography were not so good. One girl is obviously a dancer but the rest aren't. The actors tried their best to keep the energy up and make it bun but they had daunting task.

The not so positive things; first the venue has moved and is difficult to find. I heard at least two other couples complain of the same thing. I'm not a novice in these things and spent at least 1 and a half hours several days before the show searching for the place but could never find it. We had to skip supper the night of the show because it was still elududing us an hour before the show.

The venue is very poorly laid out. Almost no seats in the huge 'lobby'. well, there were some rocks. The bathrooms were very very far from anything, requiring a long painful walk for my handicapped wife. It was a shame to have these things bring down a show that could have been, and was If I remember right, a really great one. Oh and the lighting was neither inspired nor professional. There was one spot operated by someone who made a number of mistakes.

The music was fine of course, especially the band and doo wop sections.

This was our third time to see 50's At The Hop, and we were very disappointed. The choreography seemed mechanical and stilted, and there was little or no variety to the routines (walk down the steps, across in front of the stage, back up the opposite steps). The "audience participation" number dragged on way too long, with the audience member sitting there looking back and forth at the singers. Even the nine-year-old boy in our party told his mom, "They keep doing the same thing."

On a positive note, the vocals were good and the band, notably saxophonist Marvin Short, is excellent. The doo wop segment was good and could have gone longer, for our taste.

After experienciing many shows over many years, and also seeing all of the 50's themed shows in Branson, I still feel that 50's At the Hop has the edge on the competition. My groups feel the same way as well. I love the energy and commitment the performers give on the stage and the talent is very good.
