1.0 Stars    Pass on this expensive disappointment

Of all the shows that we saw on this trip to Branson, Original Stars of American Bandstand was the biggest disappointment. First and foremost the sound system was terrible. It was so loud that it gave me a splitting headache. Even with it that loud, the bass and the kick drum was turned up so much that one could hardly understand the vocals.

I also felt that they falsely advertised the show. They promote the show as being the Original Stars of American Bandstand. They do not however tell you that “The Chiffons” are not really original. It is only the former lead singer of “The Chiffons”, her daughter and another non-original. The show is produced and much of the music is actually played by two sons of Bobby Vee. Bobby Vee himself is still pretty good but Fabian is now 63 and just doesn’t have the stage presence anymore to carry the show.

For being one of the more expensive show tickets in Branson, the overall production quality was very poor. The show relies to heavily on slides, recordings, old TV clips, etc. to bolster these aging performers. I had thought that it might be comparable to some of the oldies music shows that PBS has been airing on television over the past few years. It is not even close. I recommend that you pass on this expensive disappointment and go see lost in the 50’s instead. You will have a lot better time for a lot less cost.
